1999 – The oldest wild bat in Europe recorded to date was a 33-year-old male lesser mouse-eared bat according to a claim published in The Independent newspaper (London).
2009 – A new steam-powered car land speed was broken, for the first time in over a century. It reached 151 mph.
2017 – Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is convicted of raping two of his followers.
Born…. 1451- Christopher Columbus, the legendary Italian navigator and explorer, who is believed to have discovered Americas and West Indies islands throgh his voyages.
1919 – Bindeshwari Prasad Mandal, former Chief Minister of Bihar and President of Mandal Commission. He submitted the report to then President Giani Zail Singh.
1930 – Sean Connery, Scottish actor, who appeared in (1962) James Bond films from 1962 to 1983. His films Dr. No., From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, The Offence, The Man Who will Be The King, Murder on the Orient express, Never Say Never again (1983) were most successful. He won 2 Academy awards, 2 Golden Globe and many other nominations and honours like Knoghthood and French honour.
1995 – Vinesh Phogat. famous Indian wrestler. She is three times Olypian, won 3 Commonwealth and Asian Gold/Bronze medalist. She faught Assembly election in 2024 and represents Congress Party from Julana Assembly in Haryana.
RIP…. 1996 – 194 pilgrims die of cold at the cave temples of Amarnath .
2012 – Astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first person on the Moon, dies at age 82 from heart surgery complications. He landed on the Moon on July 21, 1969 travelling Apollo 11 space mission of America. He wrote many books on his space journey and such subjects, viz., The Other Side Of The Moon, The Wright Brothers’ Journey of Invention, Quantum Quest, A Cassini Space Odyssey, First Flight With Neil Armstrong, Future Flight, Tornados, The Entity, Kitty Hawk etc. ( Feature photo credit-animalia-life.club.com)
