Delhi Double Murder: Man’s Plot to Threaten Relative Over Loan Ends in His Own Death
Loan dispute turns fatal in northeast Delhi....
New Delhi — A shocking double murder case has come to light in northeast Delhi, where a man’s plan to recover money from a relative backfired and cost him his life.
Police said Raji Ahmed, 33, who ran a house paint business, had hired four men to threaten his brother-in-law, Shami Alam, 37, an e-rickshaw driver from Loni, into returning a loan of ₹2 lakh. However, the intimidation attempt spiraled into violence and ended with both men being killed on the night of August 10.
According to investigators, the hired men — identified as Mohammad Faizaan (22), Mohammad Masoom (25), Mohammad Ashfaq (19), all residents of Qasim Nagar near Loni in Ghaziabad, and Vicky Tomar (24) from Sonia Vihar in Delhi — first lured Alam to a rented room in New Chauhanpur. There, they assaulted him to “teach him a lesson,” but the beating turned fatal.
Realizing that Alam had died, the accused panicked. Fearing that Ahmed would hand them over to the police for killing his relative, the four then hatched a plan to eliminate him as well.
That same night, around 9:30 pm, the men went to Ahmed’s residence in Khajuri Khas. They convinced him to join them for drinks in an open plot nearby. After consuming alcohol, they revealed that Alam was dead. An argument broke out when Ahmed allegedly threatened to take legal action against them. In a fit of panic, the accused stabbed him multiple times, killing him on the spot.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Ashish Mishra said that on August 11 at 6:20 am, Khajuri Khas police were informed about an unidentified man lying injured. He was taken to a hospital but declared dead on arrival. The body was later identified as that of Raji Ahmed.
Meanwhile, on August 12, another gruesome discovery was made. A landlord from New Chauhanpur alerted police about blood seeping from his tenant’s locked room. When the door was forced open, a semi-decomposed body was found inside — later identified as Shami Alam.
Investigators scanned CCTV footage from both locations and noticed the same four suspects at both crime scenes on the night of August 10. Based on this evidence, all four accused were arrested.
Police have registered cases of murder and further investigation is underway.
