Olympian Manu Bhaker to Join IIM Rohtak
Will pursue MBA in Sports Management; father open to marriage discussions if good proposal comes…..
Haryana : Ace shooter and Olympian Manu Bhaker is set to embark on a new academic journey as she takes admission in the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Rohtak. Known for her exceptional performances in shooting at both national and international levels, Manu has decided to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Sports Management.
The decision marks a significant step in her career, blending her sports achievements with academic advancement. Sources close to Manu say she has been exploring avenues to contribute to the sports industry beyond her active shooting career, and an MBA in Sports Management will equip her with the necessary knowledge and skills to do so.
“I want to understand the business side of sports, how events are managed, and how athletes can benefit from better planning and resources,” Manu reportedly shared with friends. “This is an opportunity to learn, grow, and give back to the sports community in a new way.”
Her father, Ram Kishan Bhaker, expressed pride in her decision, stating that education has always been a priority for the family. “Manu has made our village, district, and country proud through her achievements. Now she wants to strengthen her academic base, and we fully support her,” he said.
When asked about her marriage plans, he responded with a smile: “Right now, her focus is on studies and sports. But if a good marriage proposal comes, we will think about it.” His statement reflects a balanced approach, allowing Manu the freedom to pursue her ambitions while keeping future possibilities open.
Manu’s decision to join IIM Rohtak is also symbolic for many young athletes, showing that sports and education can go hand in hand. Experts believe her choice could inspire other sportspersons to think about life beyond active competition and prepare for long-term careers in the sports ecosystem.
The IIM Rohtak Sports Management program is known for its specialized curriculum focusing on sports marketing, event management, sponsorship, and analytics, offering a blend of academic theory and industry exposure. Manu is expected to balance her training schedule alongside her academic commitments, something she has successfully managed during her earlier studies.
Locals in her native village have welcomed the news warmly. “She is not just an Olympian but also a role model for our daughters. By studying further, she’s showing them that education is as important as sports,” said a family friend.
For now, Manu is preparing to start classes at IIM Rohtak while continuing her shooting practice. Her journey, from holding a pistol on the shooting range to sitting in an MBA classroom, reflects determination, discipline, and vision—a combination that has already made her one of India’s most admired young athletes.
