Violent Clash Outside PGI Chandigarh Shocks Public

Chandigarh  A shocking scene unfolded outside PGI Chandigarh on Sunday, turning a domestic dispute into a violent public brawl. Sticks, rods, and even a sword were reportedly used as two families clashed in broad daylight, injuring multiple people and even targeting a female police officer on duty.

According to eyewitnesses, the altercation began following a dispute between a husband and wife near the entrance of PGI, one of North India’s most prominent hospitals. What started as a heated argument quickly escalated as relatives and acquaintances of both parties arrived at the scene. The confrontation turned violent, drawing the attention of bystanders, patients, and hospital staff.

The most disturbing part of the incident was the attack on a female constable who attempted to intervene and restore order. Eyewitnesses claimed that she was shoved, slapped, and struck with sticks while trying to defuse the situation. Video clips from the scene, which have since gone viral, show people running, yelling, and swinging rods while police personnel struggle to contain the chaos.

“There was complete mayhem. No one cared it was outside a hospital or that the police were present. People were hitting each other without any fear,” said Rajiv, a medical student who witnessed the clash.

Reports suggest that one of the attackers even brandished a sword, swinging it in the air and allegedly threatening anyone who came close. Thankfully, no fatalities were reported, but several individuals sustained injuries. Among the injured were at least two police personnel, including the woman constable. She is currently receiving medical attention and is said to be in stable condition.

The incident has raised serious questions about public safety and the lack of fear toward law enforcement. Outside one of the busiest medical facilities in the country, the sheer brazenness of the violence has left the public stunned.

“We were responding to a routine domestic complaint, but it turned into something completely unexpected,” said a senior officer from Chandigarh Police. “We are reviewing footage and statements, and strict action will be taken against all those involved.”

An FIR has been registered, and authorities have confirmed that several individuals have already been detained. The motive behind the conflict appears to be deeply personal, but the violence that ensued is being taken very seriously by law enforcement.

Hospital authorities have also expressed concern over the incident. “This is a place for healing. Such violence not only endangers lives but disrupts emergency care,” a PGI official commented.
