Haryana : In a dramatic turn of events in Haryana, a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) who celebrated a minister’s birthday with pomp during the day, found himself behind bars by nightfall. The officer was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh in a major corruption bust. Shockingly, he is also facing a separate case of harassment filed by a lady doctor, adding a scandalous twist to the controversy.

According to official sources, the CMO was under surveillance for alleged irregularities in medical equipment procurement and transfers. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), acting on a tip-off, conducted a sting operation during which the officer accepted a ₹1 lakh bribe related to a departmental matter. Within hours of the celebration, he was arrested from his official residence.

Earlier that day, the same officer was seen cutting a grand cake and hosting dignitaries for a minister’s birthday celebration, projecting a clean and well-connected image. Little did anyone know that a corruption scandal was brewing in the background.

Adding further to the disgrace, the CMO has also been named in an FIR filed by a female doctor, accusing him of inappropriate behavior and harassment. The complaint alleges repeated misconduct and abuse of power at the workplace, which the health department is now investigating seriously.

Following the arrest, the Haryana Health Department promptly suspended the officer and initiated an internal probe. Officials stated that strict action will be taken based on the findings, and no one will be spared if found guilty.

The case has stirred up political and public debate across the state, with opposition parties demanding a wider investigation into the health department’s functioning. Social media has erupted with outrage, with citizens questioning how such officers manage to stay in power despite repeated complaints.

Many are now calling for an overhaul of the system to ensure that such misconduct is curbed and accountability is enforced from the top down.
