New Delhi: As the new month begins, several key financial and service-related changes have come into effect across India starting July 1, 2025. These changes, which occur on the first day of each month, are expected to directly impact household budgets and day-to-day transactions.

One of the most notable updates is the revision in Indian Railways ticket fares. The base fare for certain express and AC category trains has been slightly increased, citing rising operational costs. Passengers booking tickets from July 1 will see the revised prices reflected during checkout. In addition, LPG (cooking gas) prices have gone up by ₹25 per cylinder, affecting both domestic and commercial consumers. The hike has been implemented by oil marketing companies as part of their monthly pricing review. For middle-class households, this change is expected to add pressure on monthly expenses.

Banking services have also seen changes. Some major banks have revised their ATM withdrawal charges, especially beyond the free usage limit. Customers may now be charged a higher fee per extra transaction, including both financial and non-financial ones. Credit card holders should also take note. Changes in late payment fees and interest rates on revolving credit have been announced by select private banks, in line with RBI’s guidelines for transparency and customer protection.

Experts suggest reviewing your service provider’s emails or messages to stay updated and avoid unexpected charges. With inflation already pinching, even small hikes in basic services can have a cumulative effect on consumers’ financial planning. These policy changes are part of regular monthly updates but come at a time when households are already coping with fuel and food price volatility.
