Mumbai : Contrary to popular belief, acclaimed actor Manoj Bajpayee revealed that he was not the first choice for the iconic film ‘Rang De Basanti’. Recently, rumors had been circulating on social media claiming otherwise, but Bajpayee himself has dismissed these stories as baseless and misleading.

In a candid conversation, Manoj Bajpayee addressed the swirling rumors, saying, “People are sharing all sorts of things on social media these days. It’s like anything goes there without any verification. I was never the first choice for the film.” He expressed his disappointment over how misinformation spreads rapidly and affects perceptions.

‘Rang De Basanti,’ released in 2006 and directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, became a landmark film in Indian cinema. The ensemble cast included Aamir Khan, Siddharth Narayan, Sharman Joshi, and others, but Bajpayee’s name was not initially considered for the roles as per his statement.
