Himachal 2024 projectsTapovan: In a response to BJP MLA Vikram Singh’s allegations, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu clarified in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly that the cost of the Pekhubela solar project in Una district is lower compared to Gujarat’s solar projects. The CM explained that the power generation of any solar project depends on solar insolation, which is relatively lower in Himachal Pradesh compared to states like Gujarat and Rajasthan. He pointed out that the global horizontal radiation in Himachal is about 25% less than in Rajasthan and Gujarat, leading to a 25% lower power generation per megawatt in Himachal. In Himachal, the solar power generation per megawatt is about 15 lakh units, whereas it is 18-20 lakh units per megawatt in Gujarat and Rajasthan. The comparison of solar projects is generally based on the cost per unit of electricity.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the Pekhubela solar project is better when compared to Gujarat’s in terms of cost and efficiency. He added that the project in Himachal was completed within six months. Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri mentioned that the state is working towards making Una an energy hub and will implement more projects. He also responded to the criticism, saying that those who work don’t fear criticism. He remarked on the poor performance of MLA Randhir in the assembly on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Vikram Singh raised concerns about changes in rules to benefit contractors in the Pekhubela project and alleged that the construction was not done properly. He demanded an investigation into potential collusion and transactions related to the project.

In response to the FIR registered in the “wild rooster” case, CM Sukhu stated he was unaware of any FIR filed by the government. BJP MLA Balveer Verma raised concerns that locals in Kupvi had filed the FIR. The CM assured that he would talk to the concerned parties to resolve the issue and mentioned that the government would file its own FIR in the coming days.
