Rajya Sabha passes Delhi Services Bill
The number of votes in favour of the Delhi Services Bill was 131, while the number of votes against it was 102.
With 131 votes, the Rajya Sabha approved the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
A total of 102 opposition MPs opposed the Delhi Bill.
The Delhi Services Bill aims to supersede the current central government regulation regarding officer transfers and postings. The ordinance was introduced only a few days after the Supreme Court granted the Delhi government executive authority over service-related concerns.
On August 3, the Lok Sabha approved the bill.
In the midst of protests from opposition lawmakers over the Manipur issue, Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023 in the Rajya Sabha today.
