Mike Tyson Opens Up About Near-Death Health Scare and Retirement Hints After Loss to Jake Paul

Boxing icon Mike Tyson recently shared a shocking revelation about his health, revealing that he came very close to death earlier this year. In an emotional statement, the 58-year-old legend explained that in June, he was told by doctors that he was close to dying, and had to undergo multiple blood transfusions. Tyson also hinted that his boxing career may soon come to an end, especially after his loss to Jake Paul on November 15.

Health Crisis and Fight Rescheduling
Tyson’s health scare earlier this year forced the rescheduling of his highly anticipated fight with Jake Paul, which was initially set for July 20, 2023. According to Tyson, he underwent 8 blood transfusions to stabilize his condition, and had to lose a significant amount of weight to prepare for the fight. Despite these serious health challenges, Tyson still stepped into the ring with Jake Paul months later, only to suffer a defeat.

In a post-fight message shared on X (formerly Twitter), Tyson said, “This was one of those situations where you win even when you lose. I consider myself lucky and have no regrets about stepping into the ring one last time. I almost died in June. I had 8 blood transfusions, lost half my blood, and 25 pounds. It was a struggle just to get healthy enough to fight, so in a way, I won.

A Grateful Fighter: A Lesson for His Children
Tyson went on to express gratitude for the experience, particularly for his children, who saw him fight on his feet against someone half his age.
He reflected on how rare it was for someone in his position to make such a comeback, saying, “My kids saw me get back on my feet and fight for 8 rounds against a fighter half my age. Not many people get to have that kind of experience, and I’m grateful for it.

Tyson’s Return to the Ring After 19 Years
Tyson’s return to the boxing ring was a highly anticipated event, with the media and fans buzzing over his first fight in nearly two decades. The excitement was only heightened when Tyson slapped Jake Paul during the weigh-in. Paul had vowed to knock Tyson out, but while Tyson didn’t win the fight, he did manage to prove that he still had the heart of a champion.

Now, with his health struggles behind him and the fight against Jake Paul in the past, Tyson has signaled that his days in the ring may be over, leaving fans wondering what’s next for the legendary boxer.
