NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was welcomed by his French counterpart Elisabeth Borne upon his arrival in Paris, where he would be the guest of honour at the Bastille Day festivities. A formal welcome was given to PM Modi.
After touching down in Paris, PM Modi remarked, “I am looking forward to strengthening India-France cooperation during this visit.”
Then-Prime Minister Borne and Senate President Gerald Larcher were met by PM Modi after he spoke with the Indian diaspora, who had gathered in large numbers.
“The Indian community in Paris welcomed me with open arms. Our diaspora has established itself globally and is renowned for its assiduity and tenacity, according to PM Modi.

After discussing a number of topics of relevance to both parties, PM Modi and Senate President Larcher decided to collaborate to strengthen India-France relations.

Before taking out for Paris, Prime Minister Modi stated that his formal visit to France was at his friend and fellow French President Emmanuel Macron’s invitation. The strategic alliance between France and India turns 25 this year. The two countries, which have strong relationships based on mutual trust and commitment, work closely together in a variety of fields, including trade, investment, education, defence, space exploration, and human-to-human relations.
“I’m excited to talk with President Macron about a variety of topics and move this enduring and tried-and-true partnership ahead over the next 25 years. Since my final official trip to France in 2022, I have had multiple encounters with President Macron, most recently in Hiroshima at the G7 Summit, said PM Modi.
