1502 – Vasco da Gama returns to Calicut, India for the second time.

1888 – The first U.S. patent for a ballpoint pen was issued to John J. Loud.

1894 – Daniel M. Cooper of Rochester, N.Y. received the first U.S. patent for a time clock. The time clock was used to record the time employees started and ended work. It was known as the Rochester (pic credit-Robert Wesleyan University).

1925 – The first television transmission was seen in London.

1958 – The first coronary angiogram was performed, unintentionally, by Dr. F. Mason Sones, Jr, a pediatric cardiologist.

1986 – The first fibre-optic cable across the English Channel began service.
