After the elections in 5 states, the UP Congress might work with parties other than the BJP.
Akhilesh Yadav, the head of the SP, said again that the regional satraps should be given more power in leading the fight against the BJP in each state.
LUCKNOW: Even though most Congress leaders want to go it alone in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, they think that if the central leadership decides to make any kind of alliance in Uttar Pradesh, it shouldn’t happen until after the results of the upcoming assembly elections in five states, including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram.
A leader of UP Congress said, “In that case, if the party does well in state assembly elections like in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, it will be in a better position to negotiate with potential allies like the Samajwadi Party-RLD combination or the Bahujan Samaj Party.”
The current political situation in the state, however, has SP leader Akhilesh Yadav repeating that regional satraps should be given priority for leadership roles when fighting the BJP in each state. His words make it clear that if SP joins forces with Congress, it will have the upper hand, which is making the UP Congress leadership nervous. So, it’s more likely that the Congress will work with the BSP than with the SP.
