Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur road to be built soon: Nitin Gadkari

Taking note of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s demand on completion of work on long-pending Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur road, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highway Nitin Gadkari assured that the projects would be completed soon.

The CM accompanied by Lok Sabha MP from Jalandhar Sushil Kumar Rinku, called on Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi at his residence for completing the work on Jalandhar Hoshiarpur road, especially the Adampur flyover.

A government statement later said that the CM apprised Gadkari about the project that had been hanging fire since long, causing inconvenience to a lot of people people, and so must completed at the earliest. Acceding to the demand, the union minister assured Mann that the project will be completed very soon and he will be personally monitor the pace of work.

Both the ministers also reviewed the construction of Delhi-Katra expressway, and agreed on expediting the work. They also said that this highway will facilitate the pilgrims going to pay obeisance at Mata Vaishno Devi shrine apart from giving boost to economic activity in the region.

Mann also apprised Gadkari that the state government is soon going to form Road Security Force in the state to check causalities of road accidents. Welcoming the development, the union minister said this “out of the box” idea will help in checking deaths due to road accidents, the statement said. The CM also flagged the issue of high-handed approach by the national highway toll plazas to charge money and stressed that they must be controlled in larger public interest.
