Government notifies appointments of 20 additional HC judges
NEW DELHI: The law ministry on Friday notified the appointment of 20 additional judges of four high courts as permanent judges.
The elevation of additional judges is normally made after completion of their two years of initial appointment as high court judges,
Friday’s appointment includes 12 for the Allahabad high court, two for the Bombay high court and three each for the high courts of Delhi and Madras.
There are currently 333 vacancies for judges in 25 high courts against a sanctioned strength of 1,114, as on March 1. The Allahabad high court has the highest 57 vacancies, followed by 28 in Bombay, 28 in Gujarat, 22 in MP and 21 in Patna. high court. (A syndicated feed)
