Jammu: Chairman of Democratic Azad Party (DAP), Ghulam Nabi Azad on Thursday expelled three of its senior leaders on charges of anti-party activities.
Party General Secretary, R S Chib said, “Chairman DAP Ghulam Nabi Azad has expelled Tara Chand, Dr Manohar Lal and Balwan Singh, from the party with immediate effect for anti-party activities.”
“The party chairman had some inputs that the trio was involved in anti-party activities and after threadbare discussions with the senior functionaries, he took a call and expelled them from the party,” he told reporters.
“They (expelled leaders) were in touch with other parties and were damaging the DAP. Taking notice of their anti-party activities, the Chairman took the decision in consultation with other leaders and came to a conclusion that to save the party’s image, they were expelled,” said Chib.
Meanwhile, as per sources in the Congress party, expelled leader, Tara Chand (Ex Deputy Chief Minister in NC-Cong regime) is likely to return to its parent Congress party.
“He has said that he will rejoin the party and hold consultation with his workers,” they said.
Meanwhile, the expelled leaders have also alleged that Azad-led DAP is dividing the secular vote.
Notably, Former MLA Surankote, Choudhary Mohammad Akram has already distanced himself from DAP.
