Mehbooba: Unfortunate that GN Azad has taken away hopes of J&K people
Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said that it was ‘very unfortunate’ that veteran politician Ghulam Nabi Azad ‘tried to take away hopes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir regarding restoration of Article 370’.
“The leader of the caliber of Ghulam Nabi Azad should not have spoken like this,” former Jammu and Kashmir CM said while addressing a press conference here at the Party Headquarters.
She said that people of Jammu and Kashmir have high hopes on leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad, but it’s unfortunate that ‘he has taken away hopes from the people of J&K regarding restoration of article 370’.
“There are many parties here, who are propagating the BJP narrative in Jammu and Kashmir, and at the same time Azad speaking like this is very unfortunate. When we can defeat the British empire, then it is not impossible to defeat the designs of the BJP in the country,” she said.
Earlier during a program, the PDP President felicitated newly-appointed General Secretary Abdul Rashid Malik and Haji Parvez Waffa, Provincial Youth President and Coordinator of All Frontal organization of PDP Jammu Province.
Mufti hoped that they will work with more commitment and dedication in strengthening the Party at grass roots level.
Waffa, in his address, thanked the party leadership for reposing faith in him and assured him to stand on the expectation of the Party.
He said he will not leave no stone unturned in forwarding the agenda of the Party and will continue his fight for the restoration of Article 370 to protect the land and job rights of people of Jammu and Kashmir. (UNI)
