Vikas Thakur made Icon of Sveep for Hamirpur district

Hamirpur (HP): Vikas Thakur, the Silver Medalist of Commonwealth games has been made an Icon of Sveep (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) for Hamirpur district.
In view of the upcoming assembly elections, the Sveep program is being run vigorously in all the five assembly constituencies of the district as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India to make the voters aware of them rights regarding elections.
To give an edge to this program, Deputy Commissioner, District Election Officer Debasweta Banik today appointed silver medalist (Weightlifting, Commonwealth Games-2022) Vikas Thakur as the sweep icon (symbol representative) of Hamirpur district.
On this occasion, the Superintendent of Police, ADM, Assistant Commissioner, Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar (Election) Hamirpur, and all District Election Office staff were present.
The Deputy Commissioner honored Vikas Thakur by presenting him with a cap, a shawl, and a citation.
The Deputy Commissioner urged Vikas Thakur to motivate the youth to register their names on the voter lists on the basis of the qualifying date of October 1, 2022, and participate enthusiastically in the upcoming assembly elections.
On this occasion, Vikas Thakur thanked the Deputy Commissioner for appointing him as the District Sveep Icon. (UNI)
