TMC trains its guns on BJP, CPI-M, Congress in Tripura
Agartala: Trinamool Congress launched a scathing attack against both Tripura’s ruling BJP and opposition CPI-M and Congress on Sunday, asking voters to support its candidates in the upcoming by-polls to four state Assembly constituencies.
Addressing the media on the sidelines of a high voltage campaign, Trinamool leader and West Bengal Minister Dr. Manas Ranjan Bhunia said his party is the only alternative to the aggression of the BJP in Tripura. Bhunia was accompanied by party secretary and actress turned politician Koushani Mukherjee.
“We seek votes for our candidates in all four seats because in just two months after we had stepped into the state, during last year’s civic body election TMC had secured 24 percent votes whereas Congress got only 1.7 percent. The CPI-M was pulled down to the third position in the municipal election. The people have realised that voting for CPI-M and Congress is a waste,” Bhunia pointed out.
He alleged that though after 25 years of “misrule” the Communists in Tripura were replaced by the BJP in the 2018 assembly elections, people have been “suffocating” for the last 51 months. “There is no development and even the basic minimum amenities are not there in Tripura since long. In between, the Congress had ruled from1988-93. Prior to that, the CPI-M was in power. But peoples’ sufferings have only multiplied”.
“Both CPI-M and Congress have no relevance in Indian politics today. they have no leader, no argument, and no base to counter the BJP. However, since 2011 Mamata Banerjee has been an alternative to the BJP before the country, which has been recognized by all political parties, and Tripura is no exception,” he said.
“Mamata Banerjee has called for a united fight of non-BJP parties to counter the BJP in the country. Now, it is up to the Congress and Communists to decide their fate. Today, India is facing its biggest challenge because of the authoritarian governance of only two people (Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah). Their ideology is to frustrate the principles of the Indian constitution and continue the anarchy, which people don’t want,” the minister maintained.
Meanwhile, TMC Spokesperson Kunal Ghosh informed that Abhishek Banerjee would hold poll rallies in Jubarajnagar and Surma Assembly seats on Monday.
He said, “Within four years, BJP had to change its Chief Minister after realising the future is bleak for the party in Tripura and I am sure people of the state would unseat the BJP from power and the process would begin from this by-poll’. UNI BB SSP
