Kannur, April 8: CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat on Friday said there is no difference of opinion in the K-Rail Silver Line project between the Kerala Government and the CPI(M) Central Committee. Addressing a press conference on the sidelines of the CPI(M) Party Congress here, she said the LDF Government is committed to protecting the interest of the people. Claiming that the Kerala Government is a role model for implementing projects after conducting the socio-economic impact studies, she said the Left Government was giving priority to environmental and social issues. She alleged that the BJP-ruled State Governments are implementing projects without conducting Social Impact Assessment (SIA) and not paying compensation to the people. Claiming that the Kerala Government is a role model to the rest of the nation, she said all genuine issues raised by the people will be addressed. “We are determined to draft a political resolution on Kerala model of development with alternative vision and policies.” The main focus of the party is to strengthen unity against the BJP and mobilization of all anti-BJP social forces to isolate BJP. The discussion on the Draft political resolution continued on the third day of the party congress. A total of 390 amendments and 12 suggestions to the Draft political resolution were moved by the delegates. Party General secretary Sitaram Yechury will explain about the draft resolution and the amendments. In the evening session, the organizational report will be introduced by Polit bureau member Prakash Karat. (UNI)
