Jaishankar meets Danish PM, talks on Indo-Pacific, Afghanistan and EU

Copenhagen, Sep 5 (UNI) External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Sunday called on Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen of Denmark during which the discussion focused on the Indo-Pacific, Afghanistan and on the European Union’s global role.

Jaishankar, who is on the final leg of his three-nation visit, also interacted virtually with the Indian community in Denmark and said he was confident they would remain an effective bridge between the two countries. “I Thank PM Mette Frederiksen of Denmark for receiving me today. Appreciate her leadership in taking forward our Green Strategic Partnership. Conveyed greetings and good wishes of PM @narendramodi.                                                                                                                                      “Valued her insights and assessments on the key issues of our day. Discussed the Indo-Pacific, Afghanistan and EU’s global role,” he tweeted. On his meeting with the Indian community, he posted: “Pleasure to meet the Indian community in Denmark, even if virtually. “Appreciate the image they have built of India. Confident they will remain an effective bridge between our two countries. “Our deepening relations also a reflection of their contributions,” he posted.On Saturday, he had co-chaired the fourth round of the Indo-Danish Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) with his Danish counterpart Jeppe Kofod, to take forward the unique bilateral Green Strategic Partnershp. The two sides have added an 11th working group – on health, to the 10 they already have.   Jaishankar’s visit to Denmark is the first by an Indian foreign minister in 20 years, which his Danish counterpart termed as a “historic visit”.The EAM is on an official visit to the three European Union countries of Slovenia, Croatia and Denmark from September 2-5.
