NIA charge-sheets 3 Maoist operatives for uploading objectionable contents on social media
New Delhi, Jun 11 (UNI) National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday filed charge-sheet before NIA Special Court at Poonamallee, Chennai against three CPI (Maoist) operatives Vivekanandan aka Vivek, Suresh Rajan and Mohan Ramasamy under various sections of IPC, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for uploading objectionable content on social media.
All the three accused were resident of Madurai district in Tamil Nadu.
This case was initially registered on September 1 last year at D1 Tallakulam police station in Madurai for uploading objectionable contents on Facebook account “Thozhar Vivek” denigrating the celebration of Independence Day as a sham.
NIA took over this case on March 14, 2021 and re-registered the case. The central probe agency after a detailed investigation and scrutiny of posts uploaded on social media accounts of accused persons have revealed their support and active role in propagating the cause and ideology of proscribed terrorist organisation CPI(Maoist) and its frontal organizations.
“It has also been revealed that the accused persons had been knowingly possessing documents, pamphlets, brochures, banners, hand written notes, photographs which were published by CPI (Maoist) with the intention of supporting the proscribed terrorist organization and were propagating itsviolent extremist ideology”, the NIA said in the charge sheet. Further Investigation in the case is continued, the probe agency added.
