Former UPA minister Jitin Prasada joins BJP; tremors in Jaipur and Mumbai !
Sachine Pilot still unhappy and waiting for promises yet to be fulfilled by Congress High Command
New Delhi, June10: Former minister in Man Mohan Singh cabinet and close aide of Rahul-Priyanka in Uttar Pradesh joined the Bhartiya Janata Party. Jitin Prasada is the son of former UP Congress Brahmin leader, Jitendra Prasada, who was in the inner circle of former PM Rajiv Gandhi. But later he was disillusioned with the Party for being denied any important role in UP politics. He fought against Mrs. Sonia Gandhi for party president’s post in 2000 but lost. He died in 2001.
His son Jitin had sizeable following among Brahmin community of eastern UP but could not win any election during Samajwadi Party wave under Mulayam Singh Yadav and later when Narendra Modi emerged as a strong leader of UP in 2014. Prasada lost 2014 Lok Sabha election in 2014 and assembly election in 2017.
Immediately after the exit of Jitin Prasada media speculation started over other two disgruntled young Congress leaders Sachin Pilot in Rajasthan and Milind Deora in Mumbai. Sachin has a long-standing tussle with Rajasthan CM Rajesh Gehlot and even tries to topple state Govt. last year.
A message was floating in media circles from Sachin Pilot towards Congress central leadership: “It has now been 10 months. I was given to understand that there would be swift action by the committee, but now half of the term is done, and those issues haven’t been resolved. It is unfortunate that so many of the party workers who worked and gave their all for getting us the mandate are not being heard,” Mr Pilot told media persons. A party spokesperson Supriya Srinate delivered a strong response to rebut such rumors. She tried to reassure the young rebel to be patient and wait for ‘a turnaround time’. She added that Sachin was made the youngest Dy. CM by the party earlier and his grievances were being looked into. There could be a reshuffle in Rajasthan government very soon.
