Tharoor tests Covid-19 +ve nearly two weeks after receiving second jab of vaccine
New Delhi, Apr 21 (UNI) Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday informed that he has tested positive for COVID-19, just 13 days after he was administered the second dose of COVID vaccine Covishield.
“After waiting two days for a test appointment and another day & a half for the results, I finally have confirmation: I’m #Covid positive,” the parliamentarian from Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram wrote on Twitter.
He further said he took the second Covishield shot on April 8 and hope the virus won’t have much impact on him. “So we have every reason to hope that though vaccines cannot prevent infection, they will moderate the impact of the Covid virus,” Mr Tharoor said.
Apart from Tharoor, his sister and 85-year-old mother has also tested positive.
Mr Tharoor is the latest addition among the senior Congress party leaders who have been tested positive recently.
On Tuesday party’s top leader Rahul Gandhi was infected while a day earlier former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh was found positive. Dr Singh is currently admitted to Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
Notably, Dr Singh has also received both doses of the COVID vaccine, Covaxin, the first on March 4 and the second on April 3.
