439 Americans still trapped in Afghanistan: Pentagon

Washington, Oct 27 (UNI) There are 439 American still trapped in Afghanistan and the US is in contact with most of them, said the Pentagon during a Senate hearing.

Khaama Press quoted US undersecretary of defense Colin Kahul as saying on Tuesday that they are in contact with 363 Americans in Afghanistan and added that only 176 of them are ready and want to leave the country.
He further said of 363 Americans in Afghanistan 243 either do not want to leave the country.

This is despite the Joe Biden administration saying that the number of Americans left behind in Afghanistan does not exceed 200.
The US troops had left Afghanistan on August 31 after evacuating thousands of its nationals. They had also helped in facilitating the evacuation of other countries’ nationals.
