1979 – Morarji Desai resigns as premier, following the break up of Janata Party which had come to power after 21 months of Emergency rule in India. Desai resigned as Chaudhary Charan Singh broke away with his M.P.s of Bhartiya Kisan Dal and formed Govt. in Delhi with Congress Party support.
