“20 homes burnt in Manipur out of violence, hatred…”: Rahul Gandhi cites news report, slams BJP govt

New Delhi : Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday took a swipe at the centre over the latest tragedy in Mnews agencypur, where at least 20 houses have been burnt “in the fire of hatred and violence.”
In an X post, quoting a news report, Gandhi criticised the centre, saying that despite two governments and President’s rule, the conflict in the State is only deepening.
“Mnews agencypur has been burning for years, and today again, 20 homes have been reduced to ashes in the fire of hatred and violence. Even with two governments and President’s rule, the conflict is only deepening. Thousands have lost their lives, countless families have been shattered–the unbearable agony Mnews agencypur is enduring is hard even to imagine,” he said.
Gandhi further said that the Modi government’s decisive policy divides people in the name of religion, caste, language, region, and identity.
“This is the result of the Modi government’s divisive ideology, which divides people in the name of religion, caste, language, region, and identity. Today, not just Mnews agencypur but the entire country has given up hope of even two words of empathy from the Prime Minister, let alone any action. Mnews agencypur deserves better–and for that, uniting India is the only way forward,” he remarked.
Earlier on June 23, thousands of women vendors staged a sit-in protest to express their anger over the recent arrests of village volunteers by central agencies.
The protesters, a powerful and influential collective in Mnews agencypuri society, demanded the immediate and unconditional release of village volunteers by a joint team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Mnews agencypur Police last week, and also demanded the immediate release of three Arambai Tenggol (AT) volunteers.
The protest comes days after the NIA announced the arrest of 10 accused in six cases linked to ethnic violence in Mnews agencypur. According to the agency, the arrests were made during a coordinated operation conducted with the Mnews agencypur Police and CRPF across multiple districts, including Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Ukhrul, Chandel and Pherzawl.
