1989 Kidnapping Case: Rubiya Sayeed faces the accused in TADA Court, Jammu
Jammu: The younger daughter of former Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Dr Rubiya Sayeed on Friday for the first time appeared before the TADA Court in connection with her kidnapping case of December 8, 1989.
Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chief and separatist leader Yasin Malik is the key accused in the case.
Court sources said that Yasin Malik along with his associates are accused of kidnapping Rubiya Sayeed on December 8, 1989.
“TADA Court Jammu had directed Rubiya Sayeed to appear in person and as per the directions, she appeared in the Court on Friday mornig in the Janipur based High Court complex,” sources said.
Apart from Yasin Malik, Ali Mohammad Mir, Mohammad Zaman Mir, Iqbal Ahmed, Javed Ahmed Mir, Mohammad Rafiq, Manzoor Ahmed Sofi, Wajahat Bashir, Mehraj-ud-din Sheikh and Shaukat Ahmed Bakshi are also accused in this case.
“The moment Rubiya Sayeed entered the court room, the doors were shut and the trial of the case started and besides witnesses only the lawyers concerned were present in the court,” they added.
TADA Court Jammu on January 29, 2021 declared Yasin Malik and others, accused in this case.
TADA Court recorded the statements of three witnesses including Dr. Rubia Sayeed, daughter of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and sister of Mehbooba Mufti, Fespi and Dr. Shahnaz as eyewitnesses in the case and all three have been summoned.
A report was filed on December 8, 1989 at the Sadar Police Station in Srinagar regarding the kidnapping of Dr. Rubia Sayeed. (UNI)
