Indore: 3 Get RI for bribery to Settlement of IT

Indore: A local CBI Special Court on Friday sentenced three persons to undergo three years’ rigorous imprisonment each and a total fine of Rs 80,000 for demanding Rs 9 lakh in return for ‘settlement’ of Income Tax.
The CBI had registered a case against Pankaj Gupta – the then Assistant Commissioner, I-T, Indore – then ITO Ajay Viren and CA Shyam Sunder Mundra. As many as 33 prosecution witnesses were examined, a release said. (UNI)
