DD’s ‘Phool khile hain Gulshan Gulshan’ host Tabassum is no more
Mumbai: Veteran actor, talk show host Tabassum passed away here, at the age of 78.
She had reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest.
Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit confirmed the sad demise of the actor on social media and wrote, “No words can do justice to your voice & ever smiling personality. Never saw her sad. Always full of positive energies which she used to spread around. Will miss you #Tabassum ji. A great loss to d film & tv industry. Heartfelt condolences to the family.”
Choreographer and director Naved Jafri also condoled the demise of the senior actress. He wrote, “Her smile put a smile on millions of faces. The room lit up with her persona and radiant smile. Always full of positive energy. A brilliant speaker, writer & poet. She was family and we will always miss @tabassumgovil aunty.”
Madhur Bhandarkar said, “Sad to hear the demise of Veteran Actress & Anchor Tabassum ji. As a kid we used to watch her famous show on @DDNational Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan. My heartfelt condolences to her Family Members & Admirers. #OmShanti”
She started her career as child actor Baby Tabassum in 1947 with ‘Nargis’. She later had a television career as the host of first TV talk show of Indian television, ‘Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan’. She had also starred in ‘Mera Suhaag’ (1947), ‘Manjhdhar’ (1947) and ‘Bari Behen’ (1949).
She had launched her own channel on YouTube, titled “Tabassum Talkies” which consisted of nostalgic talks, interviews of celebrities, shayaris, jokes and more. (UNI) (video credits- Rakesh- Anand Bakshi)
