Kisan Morcha to hold nationwide march to Raj Bhawans on Nov 26
New Delhi: The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Thursday announced a nationwide march to Raj Bhawans on November 26 to press their demands including legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP) for all produce for all farmers.
The nationwide march to Raj Bhawans marks the beginning of the next phase of the farmers protest, said SKM leaders at a press conference here, as they appealed to farmers across the country to do the same, and submit a memorandum to the President through the respective Governors.
“SKM’s national council held a meeting on November 14 in New Delhi and strongly condemned the Modi government for betraying the farmers by not implementing the written assurances made almost a year ago, on December 9 2021 for legally guaranteed MSP, withdrawal of the electricity bill, among other demands. The meeting resolved to advise all constituent organizations to be prepared to further intensify the struggle across the country,” they said.
The SKM leaders also said that from December 1 to 11, marches shall be held to the offices of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs of all the political parties, and also to leaders and MLAs of all State Assemblies.
Call-to-action letters shall be submitted to all of them, demanding that they bring up the issue of farmers’ demands in Parliament/State Assemblies and force a debate and resolution of these issues, they said.
They also announced that ‘Fateh Diwas’ or ‘Victory Day’ shall be observed across the country on November 19.
“The Modi government had to give in to the demand of repeal of the three farm laws on November 19 last year,” the SKM leaders said.
The next meeting of the SKM is scheduled on December 8 at Karnal where the next phase of the movement will be decided and announced, they said. (UNI) (feature image credit-Social News XYZ)
