‘Jammu Express’ Umran Malik in India’s T20 WC squad
Siraj and Malik to board flight to Pearth to join the squad
Jammu: Against the backdrop of injury to Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah, the BCCI has decided to send two additional fast bowlers as backup for the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia.
However, famous as ‘Jammu Express’, Umran Malik and Mohammad Siraj are among to fly to Perth with the Indian squad on October 6 for the T20 World Cup.
Umran, who played in Irani Trophy on Saturday, took 3 wickets for 25 runs in 5.5 overs while bowling lethally from the Rest of India.
Highest scorer from Jammu and Kashmir in the first-class cricket, veteran cricketer Ashwini Gupta feels that Australia have fast wickets and Umran Malik is best choice at this juncture as he had the record of delivering the fastest ball in IPL.
“Uman is learning every day and if he gets a chance, he will surely be a performer on Australian wickets,” said Gupta.
Meanwhile Umran’s family members have also expressed happiness on his inclusion into the Indian squad. (UNI)
