NIA joins probe into IS terror module: K’taka Home Minister

Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra on Wednesday said a team of National Investigation Agency has joined with Karnataka Police to investigate into IS-linked terror module busted two days back.
The accused– Syed Yasin (21) and Maaz Muneer Ahmed– were arrested in Shivamogga on Monday. They are in police custody till September 29. Shariq (24) from Thirthahalli in Shivamogga is absconding.
Janendra said he arrested people who were planning to create panic in public by exploding bombs.
“The district police are cooperating with the NIA in the case. The arrested persons were planning to commit a terror act, professing IS ideology and implementing IS’ agenda. The probe is on and it would reveal more details,” Shivamogga SP BM Laxmi Prasad said.
The accused also had allegedly burnt the Tricolour.
ADGP (Intelligence) B Dayanand said as many as 30 people including the biggest catch Mehdi Masroor Biswas have been arrested for their links with the Islamic State so far. Mehdi is an engineer by profession and ran a pro-Islamic State Twitter handle in 2014. (UNI)
