SP members create ruckus for being disallowed to march
Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) members on Tuesday created ruckus in both the houses of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature on the issue of not being allowed to march towards the Vidhan Bhawan on the first day of the monsoon session on Monday.
While in Assembly the SP MLAs staged dharna in the well and raised slogans, in Council MLCs staged walkout. Speaker Satish Mahana executed the proceedings of the house as per the agenda amidst din and after this he adjourned the lower house till 11 am on Wednesday.
In the lower house Chief Whip of SP Legislature Party Manoj Kumar Pandey raised the issue through privilege motion and demanded that the police officials concerned should be summoned in the house and action should be taken against them.
On this, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna while rejecting their demand said that no one was stopped from participating in the proceedings of the house and this was not the case of privilege.
On this, all the SP members came into the well of the house and staged a dharna while raising slogans against the government. The dharna continued till late evening and was called off on the assurance of the Parliamentary Affairs Minister.
In the Legislative Council, Lal Bihari Yadav of SP moved a privilege motion on SP members being prevented from participating in the proceedings after being stopped by the police near the party office on Monday. (UNI)
