Himachal: AAP cavalcade takes Mandi by storm
Mandi/Chandigarh, April 6: Aam Aadmi Party convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal launched his party’s election campaign in Himachal Pradesh along with recently elected Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday. The two started the campaign for upcoming assembly elections, due in December 2022, from Mandi, the home turf of incumbent chief minister Jai Ram Thakur. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal along with his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann organized a roadshow in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi, months before the assembly elections in the hill state. Kejriwal, whose party is looking to expand its footprint after its landslide victory in the recently held Punjab assembly polls, claimed the AAP will “uproot corruption from Himachal Pradesh” if it comes to power.
There was quite an impressive crowd following the cavalcade and, on the roadsides, as if standing to lap up freebee offers AAP has to announce for the ‘Pahadi loke’ of the hilly state adjoining Punjab, where elections were held on March 20. AAP brought an expected change in State politics, where Congress and Akali Dal had been sharing power for the last 74 years, with a 92-seat haul in a 117-member Assembly. Though freebees are the popular trademark of AAP, the two CMs today spoke of eroding corruption only.
After landing at the helipad, the two CMs went straight to the roadshow where anxious Party workers were waiting since morning.
