Ramanagara (Karnataka), Sep 27 (UNI) JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy on Monday said the party’s target is to form a government of Kannadigas, by Kannadigas and for Karnataka in 2023, like regional parties did in their respective states, including West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.
“Forming a government by Kannadigas, of Kannadigas and for Karnataka in 2023 is our target just like regional parties in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, did to their people and their respective states,” he told reporters on the sidelines of a workshop organised by the party at Ramanagara.
The workshop was conducted to identify candidates, who would be trained to build leadership qualities and teach them the nuances of establishing contacts with the people of a constituency.
The aim of the workshop is to identify winnable candidates and teach them how to use technology and social media to connect with people.
If the trainees are not to the party’s expectations, they would not be enlisted as probable candidates for the next election.
Speaking further, the former State CM Kumaraswamy said though JD(S) has grown as a regional party in the state, it has not been able to win elections because of some wrongs committed by the party, which it wants to set right, he said.
There is a wave of the regional parties in the country and people have been a witness to the growth of DMK in Tamil Nadu, Mamata Banerjee’s TMC in West Bengal, Hemant Soren’s party in Jharkhand, and also Jana Sangh of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, who came out of Nehru’s cabinet and formed the party, Kumaraswamy said.
“After 70 years, the BJP has come to power under the leadership of Narendra Modi. Our party has also given pro-people’s programmes, but we need to set our wrongs right,” he said.
