Bombay HC approves use of A4 size paper for filing pleas

Mumbai, Jul 14 (UNI) The Bombay High Court on Wednesday approved the use of A4 size papers printed on both sides for filing pleas across all benches of the courts, in order to save paper and free up storage space.
A Division bench of chief justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Girish Kulkarni passed an order during the hearing of a public interest litigation filed by advocate Ajinkya Udane seeking that A4 size papers should be for filing new matters, additional documents, pleadings, affidavits in Bombay High Court and in all other subordinate courts in Maharashtra.
Udane, in his petition stated that using A4 size paper for all judicial and administrative work instead of the current practice of using only one side of larger-sized sheets would save paper, result in felling of fewer trees and free up storage space in the court.
Government pleader Nargodkar informed the court in this regard state government has also issued notification allowing use of A4 size papers in high court for failing pleas.
