Prime Minister Modi congratulated the players who won medals in Paris Paralympics
The Indian contingent’s impressive performance continues at the Paris Paralympics. India has so far won 21 medals, including three gold, eight silver and ten bronze medals. The Indian contingent has broken the record of 19 medals won at the Tokyo Paralympics.
On Wednesday, Sachin Sarjerao won the silver medal in the men’s F46 shot put event with his best effort of 16.32 meters. He missed the gold medal by just 0.06 meters. Sachin covered a distance of 16.32 meters in his second attempt.
On Tuesday, Mariyappan Thangavelu won the bronze medal in the men’s high jump T63 event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated both the players by tweeting for their excellent performance.
Congratulating Mariyappan, Prime Minister Modi wrote, “Congratulations to Mariyappan Thangavelu on winning the bronze medal in the men’s high jump T63 event. His skill, stability and determination are extremely commendable.” Congratulating Sachin Sarjerao, the Prime Minister said, Congratulations to Sachin Sarjerao for his extraordinary achievement at the Paris Paralympics. He displayed his strength and determination brilliantly and won the silver medal in the Men’s Shot Put F46 event. India is proud of him.
