Seven bodies recovered, police register criminal case against three
Around 20 fire officers and administrative personnel carried out a search and rescue operation throughout the night
AHMEDABAD: The death toll from the collapse of a six-story building in Surat, Gujarat, has climbed to seven after six more bodies were recovered overnight, a police official reported on Sunday.
The residential building in the Pal area collapsed around 2:45 PM on Saturday. A woman was rescued shortly after the incident, and a man’s body was discovered later that night, according to an earlier statement from the official. Police have also registered a criminal case against three individuals.
According to the police, seven bodies were recovered from the rubble during the overnight operation.
ACP of Surat I Zone, Neeraj Gohil, informed the media that the police have filed a criminal case regarding the incident and commenced an investigation.
Neeraj Gohil stated, “During the 17-hour rescue operation, one woman was found alive and has been admitted to the Civil Hospital for treatment. A total of seven bodies were recovered from the debris.”
