Kharar/Mohali:  A mojor day-time  theft  has occured in a flat in the well-known  residential society, Ubber Mews Gate on Wednesday. The thief  is believed to have entered through the unguarded  Rear Gate at around 3 p.m. on June 05  and had attempted to enter some locked flats whose owners  were likely to have gone on longer Summer Vacations  to hill stations in the  cool  and pleasent climes.  After sensing CCTV cameras in some blocks, the thief had reportedly barged into  Flat No. 247  owned by Mr. Harish.  The thief broke open main door lock and some inside doors and almirah lockers  and ran off with valuable Gold jewellery, cash etc. worth over Rs. 50 lakhs, as reported by the victim family.   The family had gone  out  to spend some holidays in the neighboring  state of  Himachal according to neighbors. Puneet Sharma, President of recently formed Residents’ Welfare Association said, “this theft has occured due to a serious  security lapse in the Society, which we have been raising with the Management for many months.  The Mangement has sold these flats to us assuring   best security  system

and facilities. Now they have engaged other smaller companies namely JLL and Helpmate, for security and providing essential services.  These outfits  do not respond to residents’ complaints in proper and efficient manner.”   Some residents in the Tower and  adjoining flats expressed concern over the incident.

It  is learnt, an FIR has been lodged with the local police and Foresnsic team of Distt. Police have taken finger prints, CCTV Footage,  location photos and other details.
