Sr. RJD leader Sharad Yadav is no more

Gurugram: Senior socialist leader Sharad Yadav, suffering from kidney related ailments for some years died on Thursday evening.

A seven-time Member of Parliament from Jabalpur (M.P.) and Madhepura (Bihar), Sharad was an old associate of RJD’s Lalu Yadav, BJP’s Sushil Yadav, the trio were followers of veteran Gandhian Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, having participated in the anti-emergency movement of 1975-77.  He was JDU president for 7 years but fell foul with CM Nitish Kumar and was expelled from party after he lost 2019 Lok Sabha election.

Sharad Yadav 75, held several central ministries during UPA alliance. He was a prolific speaker, yet some of his distasteful comments on his contemporary politicians put him into trouble several times. His comments on former Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, Pramila Dandawate and PM Modi during 2019 parliamentary elections were reasons for his political losses time and again.

Several leaders from almost all political parties paid tributes to departed leader, including PM Modi, Congress’ Kharge, Telangana CM KCR and others.
