Mamata expresses condolences on Tripathi's death

Prayagraj: Veteran BJP leader and former Governor of West Bengal, Bihar died in his residence after a short illness. He was 88. Born on November 10, 1934, in Allahabad, Tripathi served as the Governor of West Bengal from July 2014 to July 2019. Before that, he also had additional charges for short stints as the Governor of Bihar, Meghalaya and Mizoram.
He was a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly six times and was the cabinet minister of institutional finance and sales tax in the state during the Janata Party regime from 1977 to 1979.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday condoled the death of former State Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi. “I extend my deepest condolences on the passing of Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi ji, former Governor of West Bengal,” Banerjee posted on her social networking page. “A man of great substance, his contributions to our country will remain etched in all our minds,” she said.
“I pray his soul rests in peace,” the chief minister said.
Leader of the opposition in the state assembly Suvendu Adhikari tweeted, “Saddened to know about the passing away of the former Governor of West Bengal; Shri Kesari Nath Tripathi Ji.”
“Condolences to his family members and friends. Om Shanti,” he added.
Tripathi served as Governor of West Bengal from July 2014 to July 2019.
He also served as the president of Bhartiya Janata Party’s Uttar Pradesh unit for some time. (UNI)
