Assam CM meets PM to discuss on dev’ment initiatives

Assam Govt. merges four districts of the state in an administrative step

New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi here, and apprised him of development initiatives in the state.
During his meeting with the PM at his official residence, he expressed his heartfelt condolences to him on the demise of his mother on behalf of the people of Assam.
Sarma apprised the Central government projects in the state where process is on for acquisition of land and the development initiatives taken by his government, an official statement said.
The corridor project of Kamakhya also figured in which the PM provided valuable feedback to the CM. In the same vein, the PM also suggested ways for holistic development of the state, it said.
The CM also apprised about the preparations made by the Assam government for holding five G20 Summit meetings in the state, it added.
The CM also extended an invitation to join in the Rongali Bihu celebrations with the people in Guwahati on April 14-15.
The PM accepted the invitation though the date has not been finalized, the CM told media,

The BJP-led government in Assam on Saturday merged four districts with existing ones and decided to redraw boundaries in 14 places, this comes a day ahead of the Election Commission’s (EC) deadline for the delimitation exercise for Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies. (UNI)
