Himachal Guv calls winter session of Assembly from Jan 4 to 6

Shimla: Himachal’s legislative assembly winter session was convened by state Governor Rajinder Vishavnath Arhlekar at Tapovan Vidhan Sabha complex in Dharmshala from January 4, 2023.
A notification issued by the Vidhan Sabha secretary Yash Paul Sharma said that Guv convened three days winter session from January 4 at 11 am at Tapovan Vidhan Sabha complex near Dharmshala in Kangra district today.
The first day of session would be dedicated to the Oath taking of newly elected legislators and introduction of Chief minister and his cabinet members. On the Second day Election of new speaker and deputy speaker will be conducted.
The proceedings of Assembly also begin with inaugural address by Himachal Pradesh Governor Rajinder Vishavnath Arhlekar on January 5. On the last day of session, the house would pay obituary references to demise of former members and also transact the official business and introduce and pass the thanks motion on the governor address. 

It is the first session of Congress led by Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu after recent Vidhan Sabha polls in the state. Cabinet expansion also be Likely during and before the Assembly session at Dharmshala however no scheduled was issued so far. Including Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief minister Mukesh Agnihotri were the two members inducted in the government earlier. Congress has 40 members in 14th state legislative Assembly, BJP has 25 and Independents three.

The Guv had convened winter session earlier from December 21 but Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu tested Covid +ve, forcing to reschedule session. The senior-most member in new Vidhan Sabha, the Congress MLA from Jawali, Chander Kumar (82) was appointed and given oath of protem speaker by the Governor who would administer the oath to new members in the new House.
