5 injured by turbulence on flight between Rio de Janeiro and Houston

Houston: Two passengers and three crew members were injured on a flight from the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro to the U.S. city of Houston, when the plane experienced unexpected turbulence, authorities said.
United Airlines said the five people were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries after the aircraft landed at Houston Intercontinental Airport.

“United flight 128 encountered unexpected turbulence while en -route to Houston. Upon arrival, three crew members and two passengers were met by medical personnel and taken to a local hospital with minor injuries,” the airliner said in a statement.
“We’re grateful to our crew for their efforts to ensure the safety of our employees and customers,” the statement said.
Air traffic control radio scanners showed the turbulence happened as the plane passed over Cancun, a Mexican city bordering the Caribbean Sea, ABC News reported.
At least 36 people were injured on a Hawaiian Airlines flight from Phoenix to Honolulu after the plane encountered severe turbulence on Sunday.
Officials said that 20 of those people, ranging from a 14-month-old to adults, were taken to emergency rooms, 11 of whom were in serious condition. (UNI/XINHUA)
