P T Usha takes over as first woman president of IOA

IOC Member, Nita Ambani congratulates her on the occasion

Mumbai: P T Usha, veteran Indian track and field athlete, was elected as first woman president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), along with a new Executive Council, on Saturday.
Upon hearing the news, Nita M Ambani, International Olympic Committee (IOC) member from India & founder-chairperson, Reliance Foundation, congratulated P T Usha, one of India’s most successful athletes and a flag-bearer of Indian sports globally, on becoming the new president of the IOA, calling it a testament to the growing inclusivity in Indian sports and how girls and women continue to lead India’s charge towards becoming a global sports nation.
“It gives me immense joy to welcome Smt P T Usha as the first woman president of the Indian Olympic Association,” she added in a release here. (UNI)
