Himachal: Congress laps up Agniveer Scheme, OPS confusion of BJP govt.

Both parties will suffer more damage from about two dozen rebels in the state, than AAP or BSP candidates

Nadaun (HP): Senior Congress leader and incumbent MLA Sukhvinder Singh ‘Sukhu’ directed his guns at ruling BJP government in the State on Monday in a series of nukkad rallies in his constituency Nadaun. The opposition party candidate is sparing no effort to repeat his victory over his old rival Vijay Agnihotri of ruling BJP, whom he had defeated in 2017 assembly elections.

Sukhu addressed well attended public gatherings in his constituency, in villages Kehran, Baroti, Bhaloon, Gagal, Bharmoti, Tarkedi, Panyali (Brahmana), Basaral, Beha, Kwant and Tillu.

Nadaun  is a very old and historic capital of Nadaun Riyasat of Rajas, mostly sleepy and away from lime-light compared to other nearby towns viz. Hamirpur, Dehra, Jwalamukhi and Kangra. The famous saying, ‘Jaye Nadaun, toe wapas Aaye kaun‘ must have been coined in olden days to this hamlet to describe its character in a sentence.

More on the forthcoming elections in the state of Himachal Pradesh, scheduled for this Saturday, November 12; main parties in the contest are ruling Bhartiya Janata Party, Congress and a distant third Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Though AAP has been making much noise during last one year yet it may not cut much ice except snatching a few thousand votes of Congress sympathizers among weaker sections or disgruntled rejects from main two contesting parties.

Sukhu is attacking the Central and State govts of BJP on confusion about Agniveer scheme of Indian Defence  Forces; because jobs in services is the main source of security and income for the residents of this hilly state. Himachali, say ‘Pahadi’ soldiers are respected worldwide for their valour and sacrifices for centuries, having won a couple of Victoria Crosses decorations during World War-I and II and PVSM, AVSM and Shaurya Chakras and more laurels after independence.

The Congress MLA Sukhu is also highlighting the price rise, LPG costs and other weak points of BJP chief minister Jairam Ramesh, whom ruling party wants to repeat. Yet some villages were skeptical of Sukhu’s absence from the scene for last 4 years; even during the Corona period of 2 years, when he was not preset to help his constituents. He has been mostly in Shimla during his present term ending next month, on December 8.

Though Congress’ candidate would not say a word on the works done, his performance or on his absence from the constituency during last 4.5 years. A villager said, he has a preferred home in the capital Shimla and is more active there politically too. He has also been projecting himself as incoming CM, in indirect references during his speeches.
