Bommai govt seeks report on Arabic schools not teaching Kannada, Science

Madikeri: Karnataka BJP government has sought a detailed report on those Arabic schools that are not teaching Kannada and science subjects.
“We have sought a detailed report from the Education Commissioners on Arabic schools that have violated education norms. These schools are not teaching Kannada, English, Maths and Science subjects. Several academicians and others have raised their concerns in this regard,” Karnataka Education Minister BC Nagesh told reporters here.
Very few Arabic schools are following rules and guidelines of the education department, he said.
There are as many as 106 aided and 80 unaided Arabic schools being run in Karnataka, Nagesh said. “After studying the report which has been sought, more clarity on this will emerge,” he said.
Nagesh also noted that there is a huge mismatch between the actual number of children admitted in Arabic schools and those who are not.
About 27,000 children are enrolled at Arabic schools every year, but only 2,000 of them make it to SSLC level, he said. Unfortunately, most of them are unable to compete with others in job and educational markets, he said. (UNI)
