Naqvi: Cong Prez polls ‘selection’ and not ‘election’:

Rampur (UP): Former Union Minister and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Wednesday took a jibe at Congress president’s election and said it is ‘not an election but is a selection of a family’.
Talking to the reporters here, Naqvi said that the process of election of the president’s post in the Congress was just a formality. “This is not an election in the true sense but a selection made by the top family. Efforts are being made to find out how a ‘remote control’ of the party becomes the national president,” he said
He also took a jibe at former Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra and said that it is just an ‘event’. He said that it would have been better if Congress had united itself first.
Naqvi said that even after the Congress is being badly trashed, it is not ready to improve and even he is not in a position to say anything about this. On the question of the upcoming local body elections in UP, Naqvi said that BJP will contest all the seats in the municipal elections. He has said that the party has decided to field its candidates in all the seats of the municipal bodies.
Reacting on to the killing of two laborers of UP by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, Naqvi said that terrorist act is not acceptable under any circumstances. “Such terrorists betray religion, country and humanity,” he said.
During his visit, the BJP leader also reached Tanda Badli in Rampur to console the bereaved family on the death of senior BJP leader and former district panchayat member Jitendra Sharma. (UNI)
