Rajendra Pal Gautam resigns from Delhi Cabinet

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party leader and Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam resigned from Delhi cabinet on Sunday after a purported video went viral, showing his presence at an alleged religious conversion event which sparked a row.
Rajendra Pal Gautam posted his resignation letter on Twitter, saying “Today is the manifestation day of Maharishi Valmiki ji, and on the other hand, it is also the death anniversary of Manyavar Kanshi Ram Saheb. In such a coincidence, today I have been freed from many shackles and today I have been born again.”
“Now I will continue to fight for rights and atrocities on society more firmly without any restrictions,” he added.
Gautam was facing criticism over his presence at an alleged religious conversion event where hundreds of people took pledge not to consider Hindu deities as gods.
Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Delhi unit president, Adesh Gupta reacting to Gautam’s resignation, said that resignation is not enough, Rajendra Pal Gautam and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should apologies to people for this.
Recently, Gupta had lodged a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner of Police at the Parliament Street Police Station against Rajendra Pal Gautam on this issue.
In his complaint, Gupta demanded legal action against him. (UNI)
